Chapter One: The Ferry Neesha
Ash was in his hometown, buying supplies after his mom gave him $2500
for representing Pallet Town so well in the Pokemon League. Ash split the cash up among
himself & his 2 friends. He told them, "Spend it wisely. You each only have
$500." Ash and friends split up & they agreed to meet back at the wharf. He had
$500 for himself & the extra $1000 was for a week-long diving trip to a newly
discovered reef brimming with all kinds of Water Pokemon waiting to be captured. Ash knew
he needed some blankets & some extra food if in the unlikely event the ship were to go
down. He bought his stuff, met his friends, & went to the ferry dock. Misty said to
Ash, "We need some money for the tickets to get on the ferry to Cinnabar
Island."
Ash replied, "No problem. The diving trip was only $450.99. We've
got $549.01 extra. That's more than enough."
Brock came in, "The bottom line is that we've got enough. Let's
buy them! The next ferry departs at 7:00 PM, and it's 6:45 now."
Misty bought the tickets, then settled down on the ferry along with Ash
& Brock. Finally the ship began to move. After about an hour into the 1
and-a-half-hour trip, a commotion stirred up near where Ash was. For some odd reason, a
Poke Ball was glowing. Ash went to pick it up. He touched it, then it zapped him as if
Pikachu was shocking him. (Pikachu wasn't though, because it was in its Poke Ball.) Ash
opened his eyes after the shock. The ball turned. By itself. It said, "Voltorb!"
in a mechanical voice.
Misty & Brock ran to see if Ash was okay. Misty squealed,
"Ash, are you all right?!" He let go of the thing. Misty reached into Ash's
pocket to get his Pokedex. The shock paralyzed him. She opened the Pokedex.
It spoke, "The Ball Pokemon, Voltorb. Can explode when angry or
when its voltage level is too high. Approach with extreme caution."
"Explode!" Brock yelled. "That means it could blow a
hole in the roof?"
"And the hull." Misty said, despairingly.
"Misty." Ash said, groggily. "There's Paralyz Heal in my
backpack. You need to give me a bottle!"
"Brock!" Misty yelled, " Keep an eye on Ash &
Voltorb while I get the Paralyz Heal from Ash's backpack. Got it?"
He replied, "Got it!"
She ran to where Ash's pack was. She opened it, found the Paralyz Heal,
and hurried back. When she got there, she administered the Paralyz Heal. Ash said,
"Thanks, Misty. Now we all need to grab our packs & get ready to dive overboard,
because Voltorb will explode any second now, break the hull, and sink the ship. We may
need to grab a Water Pokemon. Pop 1 out for Brock and another one for yourself, and I have
my Squirtle. Let's go!"
They didn't need Ash to tell them that. They all ran to their packs and
put them on. Misty spoke, "Now we have a choice, the deck or Voltorb. Which is
it?"
Ash & Brock said the same thing. "The deck!"
Chapter 2: Swimming in the Storm
They ran as fast as they could to get to the deck. A storm was brewing.
Rain lashed at them. Misty sent a Starmie out for Brock & Staryu for herself. Ash
called on his Squirtle. They all heard the explosion from Voltorb. "Now!" Misty
cried. They jumped off. Brock held hands with Misty on his right, and Ash on his left. He
couldn't grab Starmie. Brock tugged on Misty's arm, and Misty knew what he wanted. She let
go of Staryu, & called Staryu back, then called Starmie back. Ash noticed he was the
only one who had a Pokemon out. Then Misty sent Starmie back out and she grabbed it. They
finally surfaced. Ash was a little confused.
"Misty," he said, "how come, for a second there, neither
you or Brock were hanging on to a Pokemon?"
She replied panting, "Brock couldn't hang on to Starmie, so - I'll
explain later! Here comes a big wave!" Back down they came, swimming & hanging on
to their Pokemon. They surfaced again.
They all gasped for air. "Anyway Ash," Misty continued,
"to call Starmie back I needed to let go of Staryu, so I called them both back, then
I sent out & grabbed Starmie again."
Another wave crashed over them. Then Ash saw Misty's hand slip from
Brock's! He figured Misty would be all right, but himself & Brock in big trouble. He
thought Squirtle couldn't pull Brock & himself up to the surface. But boy did Ash
train Squirtle well! Ash underestimated Squirtle. They got to the surface, no problem! But
where was Misty? Ash said to Brock, "We need to dive down & find Misty!"
They dove down, and Ash saw Misty. Limp, with her arms tensed to Starmie. And drifting
with the current.
Chapter 3: Reviving Misty
Ash signaled Squirtle to get close to Misty & Starmie. Ash was
dumbfounded. He wondered, "Me & Brock should be limp. But Misty?
Impossible!" Ash couldn't believe his eyes. He went to get a pulse. He touched Misty,
then Misty looked at Ash. She smiled, but her eyes were closing slowly. Ash knew instanly
what was happening. Misty was running out of air! (Needless to say, Starmie was tired
out.) Ash reached into Misty's pocket. He only felt 2 Poke Balls in there! 1 of them was
empty. He grabbed one, opened it up and Staryu came out. He put the ball back in Misty's
pocket, & grabbed the other one & called back Starmie. Misty grabbed Staryu and
they rocketed to the surface. Ash wasn't far behind. He & Brock were also running out
of air. They all gasped for air.
"Misty!" Ash yelled in glee, "You're all right! But
why'd you go limp like that?"
She replied, "Thanks a lot, Ash. Remember how I trained in
Cerulean City, and how they train & use Water Pokemon in Gym battles? You learn a
little if you take a swimming course there, but a lot if you t r a i n there. Going limp
but grabbing a Pokemon means, 'I'm running out of air, get me to the surface, quick!' And
you don't think you can make it under your own power because of how much oxygen there's
left in your lungs. You should do that too, so I'll know when to do what you did to
me!"
"Oh," Ash replied, "why didn't you tell us that
sooner?" They all grabbed hands again. Another wave crashed over them. When they
surfaced, they saw the lights of Cinnabar Island. Getting there was easy. They had left
the storm. All their Water Pokemon tired out within swimming distance, so they called them
back & swam to a sandy beach. Their 1st stop was the Pokemon Center to let Starmie,
Staryu, & Squirtle rest the night. Then they went to a hotel, changed their sopping
wet clothes, put on clean ones (they bought waterproof backpacks) and took the wet ones to
the dry cleaners. Then they went back to the hotel and spent the night.
Chapter 4: Misty vs. Brock
Ash woke up at 8 that morning. He thought if he should wake up his
friends, but realized after that watery spectacle last night, they wouldn't like that.
Misty woke up 3 minutes later, and told Ash, "Hi Ash. Should I wake up Brock?"
Ash whispered into her ear, "No, probably not. He had it hardest
last night. When he wakes up, wanna go swimming? The only other thing to do is get our
Water Pokemon and our clothes."
Misty whispered back, "Sure, why not? But let's get our Pokemon
& clothes first, okay? And if Brock wants to, can he go swimming too?"
"Sure." Ash replied. They waited a while for Brock to wake
up. After about 25 minutes, Ash was running out of paitence. "Should
we wake him up now?"
"Let me do it." she whispered back, "Pretend you're
asleep. When I shake you, wake up <wink>."
He replied, "Okay." And went to his side of the bed. Ash
& Misty were sharing a bed & Brock had his own one.
She shook Brock. He wasn't pleased. "WHY'D YOU WAKE ME UP!!!!!!!!!!" he yelled
angrily.
"Hey Brock, thanks." It was Ash.
"Thanks for what?" he growled.
"For waking me up." he said happily, but he was covering up
his true feeling.
"Misty, why'd you do that? And if you don't tell me, I challenege
you to a Pokemon match! If you lose, you have to tell me."
Misty: "Fine. I accept your challenge." Deep inside, Misty
knew she could beat him, and so did Ash. Brock had 2 Rock type Pokemon in his Onix &
Geodude, 1 Fire type in his Vulpix, and the only thing that Misty would have any problem
in was Brock's Zubat. Misty had only Water type Pokemon.
"I'm the rulemaker." Ash again. "The battle will be held
at the beach where we swam onto Cinnabar."
The hotel was only 5 minutes from the beach, but they had to go to the
Pokemon Center first.
"3 Pokemon can be used. Send out your Pokemon now!" Pop!
Misty sent out her Starmie. Brock sent out his Zubat. Brock started the match.
"Zubat, Supersonic!" he cried.
Misty: "Starmie! Dive in the water!" Zubat's Supersonic
didn't do a thing. "Starmie! Tackle attack!" Starmie spun around really fast.
Misty was thinking, "Zubat is a flying Pokemon. If I can get it into the water, the
water will soak into its fur, and it'll be too heavy to fly." Starmie hit Zubat and
they both splashed into the water. Brock: "This is bad! Zubat was my only hope!
That's it! I forfeit!!!!"
"And victory goes to the team of Misty and Starmie!!! Brock
forefeits!" Ash announced.
"So Brock, got a little carried away, huh?" (Misty,
obviously).
"I'm going to the hotel room." Brock grunted. Brock went to
the elevator and walked into their room.
"Humph. I sure told him who not to mess with." Misty said,
proudly.
"You're not kidding! Let's go downtown and get our clothes."
Ash said.
"Sure. And after that, let's go swim!" Misty happily said.
