Chapter 14: The Day Out & In
Ash woke Misty up that morning, and wondered if he should wake Brock
up. "No, Ash. He's seasick. He needs to sleep. Let's write a note and leave it on the
bed. We don't have a dive time today. Let me write it."
"Sure. See you in the mess hall for breakfast." Ash said, and
he took his leave. When he got there, the captain spoke to him.
"Ah, there you are, Ash. Overnight, we received word
that a bus made it safely from the port to Server, and we need to pick them up. Do you
have a dive time today?"
"No, we don't today, but tomorrow we have a time at 1:30. Will we
be back in time?" Ash asked.
"Yes, we'll be back here at about 6 AM tomorrow, if we leave
now." he responded.
"Okay, I'm going to get some breakfast now. Bye!" and Ash ran
over to the buffet table, but a voice interrupted him.
"Ash, the ship needs to depart to Server now!" Misty's voice!
"Misty, it already is! It's picking up a bus load of people! Come
on, eat some of this with me!" Ash responded.
"But Ash, it's Brock. He can't eat a thing!" she said with
worry in her voice. "When the boat gets to Server, he'll need medical
attention!"
"So what can we do now!" he yelled, running up to Misty.
"There's nothing we can do." with pure despair in her voice.
"Hold on. Isn't there a mini-hospital on the ship?" he asked.
"Hey, I forgot about that. I'll tell the captain!" and she
ran off.
"Hey, Misty! Wait for me!" Ash said, and he caught up to her.
They went up to the door to the bridge, and they knocked on the door. "Come in."
Misty opened the door. Ash said, "We have a medical emergency. We need to speak to
the captain."
"As you wish, open that door." the helmsman pointed.
"Captain. We have a medical emergency. We have a severly seasick passenger. Food
won't stay on his stomach for 10 seconds." Misty said, serious.
"1st officer, you're in charge until I return. Take me to this
passenger!" the captain grunted. Misty & Ash led him to their quarters, and
pointed to Brock. The captain took 1 look at him and took a key out of his pocket. He
opened a small door, which contained a phone. He dialed 912, and said: "This is the
captain. I need a team at room 438, stat!" and he hung up, closed the door, and
locked it. "Your friend will sleep in a special room, which is always flat. This room
does not sway with the ship, but the ship sways around it." The medical team arrived,
and took Brock off. The captain then left. "Your friend's room number is 401."
"Maybe it's something about this bed." Ash touched it.
"Whoo. I felt a little seasick when I touched this bed. I've got a feeling we should
share that other bed, even if we do squirm a bit. I mean, who wants to be as seasick as
Brock was?" Ash said, worringly.
"Not me." Misty said, scared. "I agree with you, Ash.
Now let's e a t." The rest of the day passed on uneventfully, but at 5 PM Ash &
Misty visited Brock's room. "Brock, do you feel any better?" Misty & Ash
asked together.
"I feel a lot better." he responded.
"You know, there must be something to that bed you were sleeping
on." Misty said.
"Yeah, when I touched it, I felt a little seasick. Misty, how
about switching rooms?" Ash asked.
"You're right. Let's ask the captain when we see him at dinner.
Speaking of which, it's 5 minutes until it's served. Come on, Brock!" she said,
dragging Brock out the door. When they got to the mess hall, there were about 50 more
people there. Brock walked over to the captain. "Hello again. Do you feel any
better?"
"Yes, I do. When I left, Ash touched my bed, and he got seasick,
which he usually doesn't. Can my group have our bed switched, or our room switched?"
Brock asked.
"Certainly! Just find me here when I finish dinner." Misty
& friends finished dinner, and walked up to the captain. "Please give me your
room keys." he said, and they gave the 3 keys to him. "Follow me." They
walked to the same level as their old room, but the captain led them all the way to the
bow.
"Here is your room. Room 499. Here are your keys. Because this
room is the furthest forward for this level, it has an unusual shape. Hope you like it-
the only empty room for your class is the room you left! 1 last thing I should mention-
when you stand in the doorway, the bridge is right above your head. Goodbye." and he
walked away. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go in! <opens door, walks in,
Brock & Misty follow>
"Wow!!" they all said in unison. Their new room had 2 TV's
with 2 remotes, was shaped like a triangle, with 2 large windows facing left & right,
giving them a beautiful view, a stereo (which had radio), lots of novels, and even the
latest edition of World Book Encyclopedia. "Hmm. Let's see if that seasick thing
applies here." Ash said, and he touched the beds. "All clear. No seasick feeling
on either of them." he said, happy.
"I'm impressed, Ash. Were we in 2nd class in our old room?"
asked Misty, confused.
"No, Misty. That was 1st class. So is this, obviously. There's
only 1 weird thing about this room. You need to walk up those stairs
to get to the bathroom." he wondered.
"They did that because of the weird shape of this room. The
bathroom must be a sort of 4 1/2 floor on this ship." Brock said.
"<yawn> I'm tired. Let's go to bed." Misty suggested.
The rest of them got to sleep easily. Misty just couldn't sleep. She was just wondering
what she'd try to catch tomorrow. Then it hit her. A Squirtle! Misty pictured that
turtle-like Pokemon in her head. For her & Ash, that was easy to remember because Ash
had one. She knew she wanted he own. She remembered Ash's kindness at that bridge again.
She knew she wouldn't be here if Ash didn't have that Bulbasaur. That wasn't the only time
Bulbasur grabbed her with vines. She remembered the time Bulbasaur grabbed her on that
blimp to Valencia Island, to help her keep her balance on a metal beam, to grab Togepi.
She realized Ash saved her more times then she could count. Then again, she returned the
favor every time. And Brock never helped Misty out, but Misty saved him lots of times.
Then she finally became drowsy and drifted off to sleep.
Chapter 15: The Long Bite to Eat at the Mess Hall
The next morning, Ash woke up, and in trying to sneak out of the bed,
woke Misty up (because it was a waterbed, when Ash got up, Misty felt it). Misty:
"<groan> Hi Ash."
Ash: "Huh? Sorry for waking you up."
Misty: "It's okay. It's a waterbed. You couldn't help it. You
going to eat breakfast? I'm too tired- if you're going, I'm not coming with you."
Ash: "Doesn't matter. I just woke up & need to go to the
bathroom, then I'm going back to sleep. It's only 5AM. Do you think I'm crazy?", and
Ash went up the stairs. When he came back down, he piled into bed with Misty, then they
both dozed off for a couple hours.
At about 7:30, Brock woke Misty up, who pushed at the still sleepy Ash.
"Misty? Come on, let's get some breakfast."
"You know Ash, we only have 3 more days on this ship, and we have
dive times on all of them!" Misty said.
"That's 3 more dives. 3 more chances to catch Pokemon!" Ash
said, not a bit sad.
"It's just me & you. Brock's already got his Poliwhirl."
Misty noticed.
"Let's eat a big breakfast, then not eat again until dinner time
comes." Ash suggested.
"Why?" Misty asked.
"Misty, don't you remember our dive time is at 1:30?" he
said.
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that." she finally remembered. Then
they all went to the buffet table, which had a boquet of zinnias in the middle. "Hey,
those weren't there yesterday. And why are there only 3 flowers?" Misty wondered.
"Oh, that's just a friendly reminder that there's only 3 days left
on the cruise." is what the captain said when he overheard Misty's question.
"So that means... the people who arrived on the bus are only on
the ship for 3 days?" Brock wondered.
"Correct." the captain responded. The rest of breakfast time
went by quietly. When 12:30 rolled around, Ash said: "Brock, are you coming with
us?"
"No. I already got my Poliwhirl, which is all the Water Pokemon I
need." he replied.
"Well, Ash we shold get in our scuba gear now." Misty
suggested.
"Yeah, you're right. You go first." Ash replied. Ash &
Brock didn't talk much, because they both just watched T.V. "Your turn, Ash." is
what Misty said when she waddled out of there. Misty changed the channel, and also watched
it while Ash got into his scuba gear. "Come on Misty, let's go!" Ash cheerfully
said as they walked out the door.
Chapter 16: The Shelling of Shellder & Seel
"Hello Ash, Misty! Ready to go?" is what Jonathan said
happily as Ash & Misty met him.
"We're ready. I still want Shellder & Seel, but I don't know
what Misty wants." Ash said, wondering.
"I know what I want. A Tentacool, a Lapras, and a Seel."
Misty replied back.
"Whoa! You've got your eyes on some rare ones, Misty. Ash, the
only Pokemon that you may have difficulty finding is a Seel." Jonathan said,
surpurised. "Well, here we are... again. You go first, Misty." is what he said.
"Okay." and she dove in, Jonathan at her heels. Ash called
Professor Oak again, and he was a couple minutes late. "Hey, Misty! I see a Tentacool
already. Use the launcher!" Ash noticed.
"Here goes!" and she pulled the trigger. Misty was going
backwards into the sand, and the Poke Ball captured the Tentacool. "Ow!" she
yelled, and Ash knew he should grab the Poke Ball, then check on her. Ash did that, and
swam over to see if she was okay. "Misty, are you all right?" he asked, thinking
that this could be serious.
"<groan> T-here's o-only 1 t-thing w-w-wrong with that
launcher: its recoil." Misty stammered, stunned from the force of her hitting the
sandy bottom.
"Check your air gauge; that was a bad recoil." Jonathan
warned.
Misty checked the gauge. "It's okay, it's not going down any
faster than I breathe it in."
"Come on you guys, let's look for some more of them." Ash
said, wanting to move on.
"Ash, I know where there are tons of Shellder, and a Seel or
two." Jonathan suggested.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go! We've only got 15
minutes down here." Ash said, wanting to catch anything he could, as fast as he
could. They swam over there, following Jonathan. "Here's the place where all the
Shellder are. Ash, you don't need the launcher. Just throw it." Ash threw the ball,
made its mark, and caught a Shellder. It transported itself to Oak's Lab.
"Ash, there's a couple of Seel over there. Catch them both! Here's
the launcher!" Misty squealed when she saw a couple of Seel to her right. She gave
Ash the launcher, and he fired once, and he slammed into the sand. Misty pulled him out,
and she fired, and the 2 Seel were captured. Ash looked at Misty in the eyes. Ash knew if
it wasn't for her quick thinking, they'd only have 1 Seel instead of 2. Ash pulled her out
of the sand. "Thanks, Misty. If it wasn't for you, we'd only have 1 Seel each instead
of 2."
"Come on you 2, we've only got 2 minutes of air left."
Jonathan noticed. They all swam to the surface, smiling at each other. The rest of the day
did not pass quietly...
