Chapter 16: To Victor's Place
Ash & Misty finally made it to Seafoam Island. "Ash, do you
have any idea where Professor Westwood's lab is?" Misty asked.
"I think I have a map. <searches around in backpack> Yep,
look at this, Misty!" Ash exclaimed.
"Where are we on the island?"
"The western side, near Victor's cabin is."
"Why don't we go there?"
"Can't, unless you surf there. There's a canyon where the island
is splitting."
"Go, Lapras!"
"Misty, wait!" Ash exclaimed.
"Why? What's wrong?"
"What if we got sucked back into that gusher again? I think we
should ride Pidgeot."
"Uhhhhhh, I guess you're right." Misty said nervously, with a
slight tremble in her voice.
"Okay, come on!" Ash sent Pidgeot out, got on, and helped
Misty on. "Don't let go of me, Misty."
"Don't remind me. I can see over your head, so I can still see the
view."
"Here, Misty, look at the map. That's where we took off."
"It looks like Victor's place should be... right over there!"
"In the clouds?" Ash questioned.
"No, Ash, under the clouds." Misty said.
"Hmm. Drowzee, keep the clouds going!" Butch commanded.
"Misty, hold your breath through this cloud!" Ash gave her a
green needle, and Misty gave him one. Suddenly, the clouds lifted. "Drowzee, what's
wrong?" Cassidy screamed.
"The viewscreen of them is gone!" Butch cried.
"Drowzee, speak to me!" Cassidy cried.
"It needs to rest, it's overworked." Butch said.
Back in the air, Ash gasped. "Misty, you can take a breath now.
Why do you think the clouds lifted so fast?"
"<breathes deeply> That Drowzee of Butch & Cassidy's ran
out of energy. It feels like I'm running out of energy..." She blacked out, and
almost fell off! "Misty! <Ash groans> Got you!"
"Ohhh!" Butch & Cassidy sighed. "Well, at least
Drowzee's back on its feet."
Ash gave Misty a Revive. "Ash? What happened to me?"
"I don't know. You blacked out or something."
"Doesn't matter." Pidgeot landed, and Ash knocked on Victor's
door.
Chapter 17: The :-| Memories
"Hi, Ash! Haven't seen you in a while!" Victor commented.
"Hi, Victor!" Ash & Misty chimed.
"Come on in." They walked back into Victor's cabin, and saw
something was weird. "Victor," Misty said worriengly, "that's a new
picture. Is that you planting the flag into the big rock when you rode Humunga
Dunga?"
"Yep. That's me. Only 1 person got a photo of it- Todd."
"Todd? Misty, isn't that the kid who took the picture of me when
that Aerodactyl was about to eat me?" Ash asked.
"Yeah." is all Misty could say picturing that in her head.
"Well, he did take a picture of an Aerodactyl, but I don't think
you're in the picture." Victor said.
"Ash is in the picture, Victor. While we were at his place, he
showed us his gallery. Back then, Grandpa Canyon was still pretty fresh in our heads, and
then we saw that picture. I asked him to zoom in on Aerodactyl's claw, and Ash was
there!"
"Misty, cut it out, you're scaring me!" Ash exclaimed. He
remembered that incident as if it happened yesterday.
"Sorry, Ash." Misty apologized, "Victor, do you have
that picture of you sticking your flag into the rock?"
"Yeah. Follow me." Ash & Misty followed Victor into his
bedroom. "Wow! It's the exact moment the flag's going in!"
"You're right, Ash. How much money has Todd made off that
picture?" Misty asked.
"Millions. He says he won't stop taking photos; he'll just use the
money for buying better equipment." Victor replied.
"Where could you buy your own copy?" Ash asked.
"In any gift shop on the island. Or islands, for some odd reason,
the island is splitting in half."
"How? I thought Seafoam was always one island." Misty
wondered.
"No one knows. Rumor has it that Jessie & James of Team Rocket
are digging for Kabuto & Omanyte fossils."
"Misty, I think we have an appointment with Team Rocket."
Misty only nodded, and they left, bound for the crack.
Chapter 18: MultiMayhem
Back at the Rocket Base, Giovanni was furious that Butch & Cassidy
hadn't caught Ash's Pikachu. He called the base. "You fools! You leave tomorrow with
nothing! I can't believe it!"
Butch & Cassidy only looked at him. "Tomorrow Jessie &
James arrive with Pokémon fossils. Rare ones. For once, they'll beat you at something.
Leave now for Viridian City!"
"Yes, sir." Giovanni hung up. "I can't believe we're so
pathetic!" Cassidy cried.
"Neither can I!"
Back at the fossil dig, Jessie, James, & Meowth were having lunch.
"I think we're gonna be on the boss's good side! <burps>"
"I can predict things in the future, and it's so bright, I think I
need sunglasses!" James exclaimed.
"No more 'lunch of losers' for us!" Jessie exclaimed.
"Once we get to the base on the island, we can just transport all the fossils to
Viridian!"
"And we'll get another paycheck!" James exclaimed.
"Not so fast!" Misty yelled. They were on a ledge overlooking
the campsite.
"<growls> How did you find us here?" Jessie boomed.
"We heard rumor that Team Rocket was splitting the island in half
to get Pokémon fossils! It's obviously true, now that you're here." Ash replied,
harshly.
"Well, you're not beating us this time! Weezing, go!"
"Lickitung, it's your turn!"
"<whisper> Misty, help me out on this one! <out loud>
Pidgeot, I choose you!" Ash cried.
"Misty calls Staryu!"
"Lickitung, Lick attack!" Jessie screamed.
"Pidgeot, blow them all away with a Whirlwind!"
"Weezing, Sludge attack!"
"Staryu, Light Screen!" The sludge from Weezing never hit
Staryu. Ash's Pidgeot's Whirlwind blew them all away. "Looks like Team Rocket's
blasting off again!"
"We did it!" Ash & Misty cheered. "Pidgeot, good
battle, return!"
"Staryu, return!"
"Misty, we should figure out if we can keep the island from-
RUN!"
"It's an earthquake!" Misty screamed. "Pidgeot, get us
out of here!" Ash cried. He jumped on & helped Misty.
Ash & Misty breathed a sigh of relief. Misty leaned a little on Ash
& put her hands on her shoulders. "<sighs> I'm glad that's over with."
"Me too." They landed back at Victor's cabin & he said
he'd let them spend the night. Ash decided to send Haunter back to Oak & get his
Butterfree back. Then he got into his rarly used pajamas, and so did Misty.
Chapter 19: Calls
Misty was getting ready to get some sleep when Ash's portable phone
rang. "Hello, this is Ash Ketchum."
"Ash? It's Prof. Oak!"
"Hi, Professor." Misty walked into the picture so she could
see what was going on.
"I just wanted to tell you that I've got your Haunter. It's very
impressive that you have a Ghost Pokémon! I want to study it for a while. Would you
promise me that you don't withdraw it from the lab for a couple of months?"
"I'm not sure..." Ash wondered.
"Professor, I know why. We got sucked into a gusher and got swept
into a underwater cave under the island. I told him that there was a prophecy about this
cave. It contained Articuno, and the only way to get out is have a Ghost Pokémon carry
you out, and it has to be at least at level 37." Misty explained.
Oak's face became skeptical. "Eh? I've never heard that one. Maybe
Westwood knows- he's located o n Seafoam Island. I've got a phone call to make- bye
guys!" and he hung up. "Well, that was pretty meaningless." Ash commented.
"Not really. <Ash's phone rings again>"
"Hello?"
"Hello, Ash? Can I talk to Misty? I need to tell her
something." Daisy had some news for Misty.
"Sure. Misty, it's for you."
"Hello?"
"Hi, Misty. I wanted to tell you your Seel evolved into Dewgong,
and Tentacool to Tentacruel."
"<gasp> Wow! I wish I had room for them! How did they
evolve?"
"We used them in a battle for a Cascade Badge- we won!"
"Who'd you beat?"
"Someone from Saffron City. Don't remember her name, though. What
have you been doing recently?"
"Not much, just a bunch of having to deal with Team Rocket, &
riding Pidgeot. Not to mention my Lapras. <chuckles>"
"See ya. Bye."
"Bye." Misty hung up, and gave the phone back to Ash. He put
it in his backpack, and walked over to where his spread-out blankets were. Misty's were
right next to him. Ash would have got to sleep easily, but Misty kept murmuring about
those Pokémon that had evolved back in Cerulean Gym. "Dewgong. Tentacruel."
Misty thought, "I can't believe they evolved!"
"Misty, what's wrong?"
"I can't believe 2 of my Pokémon evolved. I just can't."
"Something wrong with that?"
"Of course not, I just thought they wouldn't use them in a battle.
They really d o appreciate all I do." Misty had a dreamy look in her eyes.
"Well, the only other Pokémon they had was a Goldeen."
"Yeah. Good night, Ash. I love you." Misty sank under.
"I love you, too, Misty.". Now Ash couldn't sleep, but he
came around.
Chapter 20: Cliffs
It was about 2:30 in the morning. Ash & Misty waere still sleeping
in Victor's cabin, but woke up to a suprise. "Hey, what's that?" Misty
questioned. She had been awakened.
"It seems like an earthquake!" Ash yelled.
"What's going on?" Victor yelled.
"It's an earthquake!" Misty replied loudly.
Ash & Misty got down on their hands & knees to defend themselves from falling
stuff. Ash knew he should have got under a table or something, but there wasn't a table
anywhere near him. The earthquake stopped. Ash was standing on his knees. "Misty, are
you okay?"
"I'm fine. Victor!"
"I'm okay!"
"Misty, we should get going. Seafoam Island might need to be called Seafoam
Islands!"
Once they got out of their pajamas & into some clothes, Ash &
Misty were racing toward the fossil dig site. "Ash, if we could ride your Pidgeot
we'd be there by now!" Misty said, running out of breath.
"You're right. Pidgeot, I choose you! <Pidgeot pops out of the
Poké Ball> Misty, do you remember where it is? I don't."
"Yeah."
"You're in front."
"Why!?!?" Misty squealed nervously.
"You know where it is, I don't."
"Well, okay. How do I tell Pidgeot to fly left, right, climb,
dive, or land somewhere?"
"You tell Pidgeot that with your mouth." Misty slowly got on
& so did Ash. "Pidgeot, listen to Misty. Only she knows where we want to
go." Ash seriously said.
They found the place. "I don't get it. That's where it was- I'm
certain of it!" Misty exclaimed.
"Pidgeot, take us back to Victor's place. Misty, I think the
island just got put back together. That's why you can't find it. Pidgeot? Something
wrong?"
"Pidgeooooootttttt. >I'm tired<"
Misty sighed & hung her head. "Ohhh."
"I hope this helps. <gives Pidgeot a Super Potion> No use,
Misty."
"Great. We're doomed." Misty sobbed.
"We just need to make sure we're over water."
"How can we control Pidgeot? It's tired!" Misty squealed,
getting ancy in this predicament.
"It can't climb, but can still dive & turn. Pidgeot, that
way!" Ash pointed over some water near a cliffy shoreline.
After they got about 200 feet above it, Ash decided to get closer to
the water, and then spok to Misty, who was all over Ash in fear. "Misty, get ready to
jump!"
"I hope you know what you're doing."
"Come on!" Ash pulled Misty off Pidgeot! Misty screamed.
