Chapter 21: The Squash Palm Tree
Ash woke Brock up that morning & told him: "We need to see how
much food we have left so we can see how long we'll last out here. I'm gonna go wake Misty
up!" and he walked over to where Misty's tent was supposed to be, but it wasn't
there. "Misty!!" he cried, and heard a faint response.
"Ash!! Is that you! I need your help! Bad!" even despite her
screaming, Ash could barely make out what she was saying. A minute later, Ash finally
found her. "What happened to you?"
"I couldn't sleep last night. I nearly got to sleep, and the winds
must hve blown the tent & myself in the air, then it landed me here. The winds must
have knocked this palm tree on me, and that's why I'm here." she said, not knowing
what to do.
"I know how to get you out of there. Charmander, Squirtle, come
out! Squirtle! Douce Misty with Water Gun! Charmander! Flamethrower!". Misty knew
what he was doing, although she wasn't sure she'd come out in 1 piece. The flame burned
the tree around her, but she wasn't burned. Misty did get really soaked, though. When she
could get up, Ash gave her a towel. Then she dried herself with it. "Where's your
pack?" Ash asked.
"I don't know. Let's look around." They searched around for a
while, and Ash finally found it. Then they went to where Brock was waiting for them.
"Where were you?" he asked to Misty.
"Pinned under a tree. Didn't hurt that much, though." she
replied.
"Well, the point is that she's here, in 1 piece." Ash said,
wanting to get a move on. "Now let's find Server again, and get home."
Chapter 22: The Waterfall Sunset
They walked for hours until they found a waterfall. "Wow. Just
look at that sunset." is what Ash said when he peered off into the distance.
"Let's start setting up camp here & find a road tomorrow. After all, we've got 2
weeks out here. WHOA!!". A gust blew up behind him & set him forwards off his
feet, into the waterfall! Misty thought fast. She knew she had to do something.
"I'll go in & save him. You just keep setting up our
tents." (to Brock), and she jumped in after him. Misty knew she should check for
water depth, but there was no time. She guessed the drop was about 30 feet, and then she
felt the warm water surround her. Ash felt something bang into him. He almost yelled, but
he stopped himself. The water was pretty dark from the shade of the surrounding trees, but
when Ash turned around, he could just barely make out a ponytail. He recognized it was
Misty, just by that. When Misty banged into him, she felt warmth from it, so she realized
it was a Pokemon, or it was Ash. When she turned around, Misty recognized Ash from the
brim of his cap, so they realized they were with each other. Then they realized thay
didn't know up from down.
Misty swam one direction, and banged her head on some rocks. Now they
knew up from down... or so they thought. They both swam the other way. They banged their
heads. Misty went another way. This time, she surfaced. Ash covered his face, thinking she
would bang her head again. Then, when he opened his eyes, he only saw her body, and not
her head, so he realized she was at the surface. He swam after her. "Ash! Where'd you
go?" Ash heard her say, but not easily. The water reduced the volume of her voice.
"Over here!" he replied, after about 15 seconds.
"Are you all right? I have a bad headache." she said.
"I'll never forget this headache, but otherwise I'm fine." he
replied, not liking his headache.
"Ash, how are we gonna get to where Brock is? You can't throw a
Poke Ball 30 feet." she gasped in horror. They didn't have their packs with them, so
if they went on shore, they'd be starving, and be sleeping with only each other to keep
warm.
"There are some ledges from here to the top. I can throw a Poke
Ball 5 feet." and Ash threw a Poke Ball onto that ledge. It opened up, and his
Bulbasaur came out. "Bulbasaur! Grab us with Vine Whip and pull us on the
ledge." Bulbasaur grabbed them, they were pulled up. Then the ledge cracked under
their weight! Ash called Bulbasaur back in mid-air, the he & Misty plunged into the
water. They surfaced. "Well, this is great. Now what should we do? Tell Brock to jump
in with our packs?" Misty asked, dissapointed.
"I guess that's our only choice. BROCK!!!" he yelled up.
Misty covered her ears & closed her eyes.
"What is it, Ash? Are you ok?" he replied.
"We can't get back up there! We need to move camp down here. And
to do that, I need your help." Ash.
Chapter 23: Setting Camp (again)
"Well, what can I do?" Brock.
"Undo the tents, & jump down here with our supplies!"
Misty.
15 minutes later, Ash & Misty went on the shore to rest. Brock
finished. "Just throw the packs at the water! We can catch them." Misty, giving
him instructions. "Jump in the water again." she said to Ash. Ash & Misty
dove in. They caught their own packs and put them on. Brock put his on, then jumped off
the waterfall. "Ash, stay at the surface so I don't bang my head." Misty, just
wanting to avoid another headache. Misty dove down and tapped Brock on the shoulder. He
was shocked. He thought that what tapped him must have been a Goldeen or something. He
banged his head, so hard his world went black. Misty saw all of this, and, on seeing Ash's
body at the surface, surfaced. "Ash, he got scared when I tapped him. He hit some
rocks so hard, he went unconscious. I need your help!" she said, scared, but not
histerical.
"Sure, but how will we know up from down?" he asked.
"We won't. When we find him, swim slowly in a direction with your
hand sticking our so if you're swimming into some rocks, you'll feel it- with your hand.
Now let's go!" and Misty dove into the water. Ash dove down after her. Misty had to
retrace her swimming strokes through the dark, warm water. Something bumped into her. It
was Ash! He was swimming away from a figure. Misty thought it was a Goldeen, but it was
strange. It was too big to be a Goldeen. Then 3 things hit her: It was a Seaking, Ash was
tapping her on the shoulder, and so was Brock. Misty turned around so she was facing Ash
& Brock, but she was a little nervous. She raised her arm, and swam in a direction.
She found the surface. Ash chased after her, and Brock went after Ash. When they were all
there, Misty was in a panic. She said, "There's a Seaking stalking us. We need to get
to shore, now!" and she was swimming towards the shore. Ash was nipping at her heels.
Brock, not nearly as adept at swimming as Misty or Ash, was not nearly as close to Ash as
Ash was to Misty. Ash & Misty were at the shore, waiting for Brock to catch up to
them. "Well, guess I should start cooking dinner now." Ash said.
"I'll set up our tents." Misty replied. Ash got out the small
gas stove that he bought. He then got some water from the river, and put it on to boil.
Brock finally got onto shore, and that Seaking jumped out of the water after him, but it
never hit him. They ate dinner, and Ash let Pikachu out of its Poke Ball. Then it noticed
a hot spring. When they all finished, they changed into their bathing suits & relaxed.
In Ash & Misty's case, a little too much. They were so tired, they just dozed off to
sleep right there. Brock had to wake them up, then they changed into clothes & got to
sleep very easily.
Chapter 24: The Return of Scyther
"Misty! Misty, wake up!" in horror, Ash awoke to this sound:
"SCYTHER, SCYTHER!!". Ash checked his watch. It was only 2 in the morning!
"<sigh> Ash, what is it?" Scyther: "SCYTHER!"
"AAHHHHHHHHH!". Misty screamed!
"1 of us has to wake Brock up!" Ash was tense.
"I'll go!" Misty responded, already tense. She ran out of the
tent, and the Scyther tried to slash her. "AHH!" She got down on her stomach,
then picked herself up. She never saw the Scyther coming at her from behind. "Misty!
Behind you!" Ash. She dove into the ground again. "Charmander,
Flamethrower!" Charmander aimed a little low, and it would have baked Misty. But
somehow she knew... she sent out her Staryu, which used a Water Gun to block the flame.
Most of it, anyway. Her feet & part of her lower legs were burned. "Come on,
Charmander! Fire Spin!" even this missed!!!!!
"Charmander, Ember! And don't bake Misty like you almost did last
time!" Charmander swung its tail around & around and finally hit the Scyther.
"Scy..ther." it then lay on the ground, still. "Poke Ball, go!" Ash
cried. The ball opened up, and successfully captured the Scyther. "Charmander. I'm
really proud of you." Charmander dove into Ash's arms. Ash smiled. Then his face
clouded. It hit him. Misty. "Misty, are you all right?!?!?" he asked.
"Ash? I think I have burns on my legs." she responded,
weakly.
"I-i thought... you'd have burns all over your back side."
Ash was now in tears.
"I just need some Burn Heal. That's all." she responded, and
she felt warm inside... from Ash, not literally, almost... love.
"Sure, Misty." Ash, just... happy. When he got it, he gave
her the Burn Heal & asked, "How did you know the Flamethrower attack was too low,
anyway?".
"I didn't. I just realized Scyther was too close, so I sent out
Staryu, and it knew what to do." She stood up. "I'm tired, let's go back to
sleep."
"Yeah, <yawn> let's sleep for 2 years, too." Ash said,
his eyelids already dropping. They just climbed into their blankets and started dreaming.
Chapter 25: The Bridge's Return
Brock woke Ash & Misty up that morning. "Come on you guys,
let's get a move on!" he said.
"What? Misty, how do you feel? In particular, your burns."
Ash asked.
"I feel fine. I'm gonna go dip my head in some water to wake me
up. Anyone coming with me?" and she got up & walked off.
"Hey, Misty! Wait up!" and Ash ran over with her. They took
deep breaths, and stuck their heads in. In Misty's case, she fell in because she was
off-balance. She surfaced & gasped. "Well, that's the easy way to wake me
up." she said, shocked.
"That didn't help me much. I'll try that." and Ash dove in
too. He was a little shocked when the water hit him. When he surfaced, he said, "Now
THAT worked." and he climbed on shore. They all packed up & followed a river.
Then, they all saw the bridge where Misty smacked into a pier. "How do we get on the
bridge? Swim?" Brock asked.
"I guess that's our only choice, then climb a pier up to the deck.
But it's a long drop to the water." Misty responded.
"How will we know we won't crash into some rocks when we dive
in?" Ash asked.
"Only one way to find out. Misty calls Staryu!" and she threw
a Poke Ball. Her Staryu popped out. She was serious. "Dive in & tell us how deep
it is, Staryu!" and it dove in. Misty knew it said it was 10 feet deep. She grabbed
Staryu, and said, "Ash, send out your Squirtle." and Ash did so. They held
hands, and jumped off the cliff, which was only 5 feet to the water. They surfaced.
"This is tricky. We need to run into a pier." Misty told Staryu to move left,
which would ram her into a pier. She braced herself for the impact. She groaned when the
current rammed into the pier.
"You okay, Misty?" Brock asked.
"Shaken up, but otherwise fine. Climbing this should be easy,
because the steel beams are just like a ladder. Follow me, Brock!" and she started to
climb up... 1 of the longest climbs she'd ever seen. When Ash started, he let go of
Squirtle & almost missed calling him back. Half an hour later, they finally made to
the bridge deck. Misty just collapsed, but her eyes were open & she was breathing.
"Misty, can you hear me?" Ash asked, worried.
"I'm just wiped out. <groan>" she murmured.
"I guess we're all tired. Let's go back to that cave & spend
the night." Brock suggested. when Misty crawled into the cave, she just set up the
big tent, got her blankets out of her pack, and fell to sleep... without eating dinner.
Ash & Brock actullay ate dinner, and when Ash set up his tent, he just wandered in his
mind, and fell to sleep. Brock crawled into the big tent with Misty, and unintentionally
woke her up. She was up only 5 more minutes, then she just fell to sleep.
Chapter 26: Zubat & Golbat
"Flap flap flap flap flap." Misty heard this & realized
some Zubat woke her up. She wasn't concerned. She just tried to get back to sleep. 10
minutes later, she s t i l l couldn't get to sleep. Then she saw some teeth through the
canvas of the tent! She screamed, waking Ash & Brock up in the progress. They
immediately knew something was up. "Misty, what is it?" Ash asked. All their
tents were close to each other, so Ash just pushed his tent (from the inside) toward the
zipper entrance of Misty & Brock's tent. "Misty, open your tent up." Ash
said, worried. Ash opened up his tent, and so did Misty. They were face to face.
"What do you want to talk about?" she asked.
"What's going on?" he replied.
"Look over here." Brock. Ash took 1 look at where he was
pointing, and he was spellbound. "The Zubat, local to this cave, want to get to
us!" (Brock).
"We have to battle! Or run! Which is it?" Ash, in horror.
"Brautntrluen!" Brock & Misty said the exact opposite
things, completly confusing Ash. Some r e a l l y big teeth cut into the canvas of Ash's
tent. "Run! I see the first rays of morning already!" Ash, completly having made
his mind. He just pushed his tent, along with his pack, out the enterance. Ash got out of
the cave. Misty & Brock weren't so lucky. They each ran a seperate direction. When
they fell in on each other, they blacked out. Ash got out of the tent, put some duct tape
over the teeth marks, and finally put it in his pack. He let Pikachu out. "Pikachu,
what do you think is going to happen to Misty & Brock?" he asked sadly.
"Pika pika. Pika chu.". It didn't know.
"Well, we have no choice. We have to get them." Ash's face
softened, "With a pal like you, I can do anything!".
"Pika pika!" it replied, happy. They walked back into the
cave, looking for them. Around the first bend, it was pitch black. Ash sent out his
Charmander. After 15 minutes, a fork in the trails came up. Ash had an idea of which way
to go, because he could see light coming from the left fork. He took that fork, and it led
to a small, sturdy ledge. He looked out on the view, then looked down at the drop to the
ocean. Instead of seeing nothing but water, he saw Misty & Brock's tent! He reailzed
they must be inside. "Misty! Brock! Are you down there?!?" he screamed. Misty
& Brock were still unconscious. The Zubat dropped them onto that ledge 5 feet from the
water. Ash called on Bulbasaur & told it to lower him down. When Ash got down there,
he opened the tent. He saw Misty & Brock there, motionless, but they were breathing,
so he knew they were just blacked out, and not dead. He shook them. They woke up.
"<groan> Ash? Is that you?" Misty, groggily.
"Yeah, it's me. Wanna get out of here?" Ash, softened. He
realized Brock just opened his eyes, but he wasn't saying a word. He stood up. "Yeah,
let's get out of here."
They took the tent down. "Bulbasaur, pull us back up there."
Ash. It did that and Ash led them out of the cave, and on their way to Server!
"Look guys, the road's fine now. We can walk to Server!" Misty said
in glee. They ran their errands, and finally settled back to sleep in a hotel.
