Chapter 5: Team Rocket Blasts Off Again
When they got back, they dropped the clothes at the room and Ash &
Misty changed into their bathing suits. When they got to the pool, Ash & Misty dove
off the diving board. They were having so much fun together, they never noticed a girl, a
guy, and a
Meowth (guess who?) rustling in the surroundings.
Then Misty surfaced after a dive. She gasped for air, and Ash spoke to
her. "Hold on. Did you see something in that bush?".
"When?" Misty asked.
"Like, 2 seconds ago." Ash answered.
"I was underwater then. I didn't see anything except you at the
surface, bubbles, and water." Misty replied.
A voice interrupted them. "Prepare for trouble." It wasn't
Misty.
"And make it double." It wasn't Ash.
"Yeah, that's very interesting. While you guys are reciting
poetry, they'll run away! Come on, let's swipe that Pikachu." The Meowth.
"It's Team Rocket!" Ash & Misty said together.
"Ash, we have to get Brock, quick!" Misty squealed.
Obviously, they didn't have their Pokemon with them. Except 1. Pikachu.
"Yeah, I'll get Pikachu. You get the elevator!", he said to
her. "Pikachu, return!". Another rare case where Pikachu wanted in. It didn't
like the Pokeball, but it was better than being captured by Team Rocket. Misty opened the
door. She saw Brock! "Brock," she begged, "Team Rocket is here! Do you have
your Pokemon with you?"
He replied, "Of course I do. I'll use-". He didn't finish
because Ash came running up to them.
"Onix & Vulpix!" Ash screamed.
"Uh, yeah, how'd you guess?" Brock said, blushing a little.
"Who cares? Me & Misty will each go up & get a Pokemon.
Until we get back, you're on your own. Got it?" Ash said hurriengly.
"Got it!" Brock sent them out, and battled with Team Rocket.
In the elevator, Misty said, "Can't we speed this thing up? Brock
can't last down there forever!"
"There's nothing we can do. It goes at 2 speeds. This speed or not
moving at all." he said worringly.
They finally got to the 6th floor. They rushed to their room and Ash
grabbed his Charmander, and Misty grabbed her Staryu. Ash left Pikachu's Pokeball behind.
When they got down there, Team Rocket was gone. Brock was standing in front of the
elevator door, impaitently waiting. The elevator reached the bottom and the door opened.
Brock said: "Where have you guys been?"
Misty replied, "Getting our Pokemon. Was Team Rocket easy?"
"Of course they were. Vulpix's Fire Spin creamed Koffing and
Ekans. You guys up for lunch?"
"Uhhhhhh, not yet." Ash & Misty looked at each other
& said the same thing.
"Well, okay. I'll be wandering around town to find a place to eat.
I'll be back in a couple of hours. Later, guys."
"Bye, Brock!" They waved. Misty spoke to Ash. "Well, do
you want to go to the beach and swim?" she asked.
"All right! Let's go!" Ash said, excited.
Chapter 6: Memories
When they got there, the beach was quiet. Ash asked Misty, "Why do
you think this beach is so quiet?"
"Well," she responded, "yesterday was the first day of
summer. Lots of tourists like a nice, latenight cruise. Remember how the ferry sunk, and
how Cinnabar is a resort town? Well, I have a feeling that we were the only 3 survivors
from the sinking. Only a fraction of people are Pokemon trainers, even less who have any
Water Pokemon. That's why we're unique. We both have at least 1 Water Pokemon. In my case,
they're all Water Pokemon. And that gives us a boost at surviving shipwrecks. Remember the
St. Anne?"
"Oh yeah." Ash responded.
Misty continued. "Just think how doomed we'd be (in that
situation) if we didn't have any Water Pokemon!"
Ash replied, "That's... scary."
"AAAHHHH!" Misty squealed suddenly.
Misty flew high into the air. Something had hit her from underwater.
Ash knew this Pokemon without his Pokedex (for the reason Misty had one). It was a
Goldeen. It used its horn to hit Misty! "Awwww, Misty!" he shouted, "You're
bleeding a little!!".
"Ash, when I hit the water, you need to pull me up! Make sure
you're out out of the way when I splash!!" She was falling by the time she finished
the last word. Misty fell to the water. Ash dove under and grabbed her. She didn't open
her eyes. Ash pulled Misty to the surface. Now she opened he eyes. "Ash," she
squealed, "get me to shore with my face down!". "B-but," he
stammered,- "Just do it!" she screamed.
"Well, OK." he said, although he wasn't too sure about it. He
flipped Misty over in the water. Misty took a deep breath. Ash got Misty to the shore.
Misty gasped. "Now what?" Ash asked Misty.
"Go to the hotel. Get a towel and a bandage from my pack.
Hurry!" she said, in a worried voice.
He got the stuff, and returned to the beach. Misty was gone! He looked
to his right. Nothing. He looked to his left. He just saw her head above the spot where
the waves were crashing down. He ran up to her. "Misty! Say something!" he
shouted to her.
"Huh? Ash, drag me out of the water!" Ash grabbed her by the
hands and pulled her. "Okay, dry the leg that has the wound on it
with the towel and put the bandage on. Ash did that & Misty slowly stood up.
"Well, let's go to the hotel and shower." Misty said.
"Okay." Ash replied. 30 minutes later, they had showered and
changed into some clothes. "Let's eat lunch & find Brock." Ash suggested.
"Sounds fine to me. There's nothing else to do." she replied.
They found a lunch buffet at a restaurant in town. Amazingly, Brock was
there. They sat next to him.
Misty started the conversation: "How long did you wander around
town, Brock?"
"Oh, I'd say a half hour." he said. The rest of the lunch
went by very silently. They all went to the hotel and just read books. When it was 6:30,
they went back to the restaraunt. They were there for an hour. When they were walking to
the hotel, Brock told them, "Tommorrow we should check out at 10:00 AM and go to the
bus depot. Then we'll show them our tickets to bus that takes us to the town of Server for
the reef & diving cruise." They were all excited for tomorrow. Brock couldn't
wait for his first Water Pokemon. Ash knew Gary would be jealous at him, and Professor Oak
proud of him. Misty knew her sisters would be proud of her. Obviously, they couldn't wait
to go on that trip.
Chapter 7: The Bus to Server
Ash & friends woke up in unison that morning. Ash asked, "What
time is it?".
Misty answered, "8:30. Brock, when does the bus leave?"
He groggily answered, "A hour from now. Let's go check out and go
eat at that restaurant." They all left, turned in their keys, checked out, ate
breakfast, and went to the bus depot. They got there only 5 minutes early. An announcer
blared out, "Please load all luggage into the luggage compartment of the bus and go
to your assigned seat. The bus will travel across Cinnabar Island to the town of
Server." "Boy, this bus is empty." Ash said, worried.
"It's really empty because of the Neesha's sinking. Let's ask the
driver if we can sit together because it's really empty!" Misty said. She ran up and
asked, and when she turned around, her face brightened. "He says 'Yes!'".
"Hey, let's get seats in the front!" said Brock, excited. They went to the seat
furthest up front & on the right. "Wow! I can't believe how nice this bus
looks!" said Ash, still excited. The driver blared on the radio to the few
passengers, "Lunch will be served at 12:30, with a snack a hour from now, and 2 hours
after lunch."
"In other words, a snack at 10:30, and another snack at
2:30." Misty murmurmed to her friends.
"Hey Brock, when does this bus reach Server?" Ash asked
questioningly.
"It says 3:30. Boy, a 5-hour bus ride?" Brock said, a little
depressed.
"Correction, Brock: a 5-hour l u x u r y bus ride!" Misty
said, happily.
Chapter 8: Misty's Big Fall
"Brock, why is the ride 5 hours long?" Ash asked another
question.
"Well, it looks like going short side would go right through a
lava zone from the volcano, so they had to build a road around the other way."
After a pretty rough & uneventful bus ride, they ate the second
snack. Then Misty looked up ahead. She saw a sign, then a bridge. "Hmm. Looks like
we're going over a big canyon." Ash saw something out the window. It looked like an
angry wild Pokemon. "Dexter, what is it?"
It spoke, "Scyther. A Mantis Pokemon of the Bug and Flying types.
Uses its high speed to create the illusion that there are more than 1 of it. Reacts
violently to the color red. Scyther is very rare." Ash shuddered. He noticed at the
bus depot the tires & a stripe of the bus were red. "Misty, Brock! That Scyther
could knock us off the bridge, into the river! Misty, your Staryu and my Squirtle!"
Pop! They came out. Scyther cut the front 2 tires with its knife-like arms. The driver
wasn't wearing a seat belt. The vibration shocked the driver he hit his head on the wheel,
blaring the horn, getting everyone's attention quickly. A bend in the bridge came up, and
the moving bus broke the railing. The bus fell. Ash called back Squirtle and sent out his
Bulbasaur. "Vine Whip!" Bulbasaur sent 1 vine after Ash and it grabbed him.
Bubasaur's other vine grabbed Brock. "But what about Misty????" Brock cried.
"I'm afraid... her fate is in her own hands." Bulbasaur
pulled Ash & Brock back to the bridge deck. They walked over to the other side of the
bridge.
Chapter 9: Misty and the Pier
When Misty fell in the river, her first instinct was to grab Staryu.
Somehow, they bumped into each other in the raging current. Then she thought to herself,
"Maybe if I grab a bridge pier, I can just yell up so Ash can use his Bulbasaur,
which can pick me up to the bridge, then I figure we'll be at Server in a good day of
hiking along the road!" She saw a pier, right in front of her. She would just smack
into it, there was no time to react. SMACK!! She hit it so hard, she was knocked out cold,
and Ash felt it on the top of the bridge. But not Brock. He was too heavy to notice it.
"Whoa! Did you notice that shake?" Ash said, surprised.
"No. But the bus went off on the upriver side, so maybe Misty -
smacked into a pier? Could that be?" he said, surprised like Ash. Maybe a ray of hope
was still left for her. Hypothermia couldn't happen, because Cinnabar was a tropical
island. Ash said, "Let's camp out on the bridge. If we hear her, wake up the other
person." A couple hours later, Ash noticed the sun was going down. "Well Brock,
let's go to sleep. We don't have our packs." Ash said, despair in his voice.
"Hey, Ash, Brock. Get me out of here." (Misty's voice was
faint, despite she was screaming)
"Hold it. Did you here that?" Brock.
"Yeah, it sounded like Misty! Bulbasaur, I choose you! Grab Misty
with Vine Whip!" Ash, with some happiness.
"Misty, if you see a vine, grab it!" Brock said with urgency.
Misty grabbed a vine, and kept a loose grip on it. Bulbasaur used the
guidance of Misty touching a vine to grab Misty with them both. They grabbed her by the
waist. Bulbasaur pulled her up so fast, she fainted. Bulbasaur laid her down on the ground
gently. She lay there for about a minute, breathing, then slowly opened her eyes.
"<groan> Where am I?".
"Hi Misty. Are you okay?" Ash, glee in his voice, (duh).
"Oh. Hi Ash, Brock. Just a little cold, otherwise I'm fine. Now
let's see if I have Staryu & Starmie." She took the 2 Pokeballs out of her pocket
and opened them up. "AAHH! I don't have Staryu! Wait! The pier!" She remembered
being swept with the current, and seeing heself smack itno the pier, staryu pinned between
her & the bridge pier. "Ash, I need Bulbasaur to grab me again & lower me
down to call Staryu back." She called back Starmie.
"Well, sure. Bulbasaur, come out!" "Bulbasaur!" it
said.
"Bulbasaur, grab Misty with Vine Whip, and lower her down when I
say 'now'. Got it? Don't let go!" "Bulba!" it replied.
"Misty, do you need your hands free?" Ash asked.
"Yeah." she replied.
"Put your hands up, just for a second so they're free!" She
did so, and Ash told Bulbasaur 'now'. Bulbasaur lowered Misty down to about 5 feet above
the water. Misty cried, "Staryu, return!" A gust blew up on the bridge.
Bulbasaur lost its footing, and Ash pulled Bulbasaur back down to the bridge deck. Misty
couldn't breathe because of all that moving air. The last thing she did down there was
shrink the Pokeball (with Staryu in it) and put it in her pocket. Then she went limp
because she exhaled, and then the gust came. "Misty! Can you hear me?!?!" Brock,
with a touch of worry in his voice.
Bulbasaur's vines extended (because of the wind). Ash stood up. Ash
then saw what happened. He saw Misty limp on the vines. "Bulbasaur! Pull Misty back
in!" The motion revived her, then she closed her eyes again from the sunset on the
water. When Bulbasaur pulled her up, she was holding their backpacks (by her feet)! She
also smiled. So did Ash. Bulbasaur put Misty on the bridge on her feet, (letting her shake
her ankles so she didn't crush the bags) so Ash & Brock could see her smile. Ash &
Misty hugged each other, even though Misty was sopping wet. "Awww, thanks, Ash. Come
on, I see a cave. It looks dry. Let's sleep there tonight." Misty said, glad that she
was with her friends again- and had all her Pokemon.
"Yeah, and let's eat something, too!" Ash said, very happy.
They all agreed to walk to Server, which they saw on a road sign, 1 MILE AWAY. After they
ate, they all went to sleep. The cave was cold but, with their thick blankets, they didn't
really notice it unless they stood up. Misty knew Ash was a good friend. "Maybe I
should let him off easy on that bike..." she thought to herself. Their friendship
melted their hearts.
