Chapters 21 to 25

Chapter 21: Primeape's Rebellion
Ash called Pidgeot back in midair, then felt the water, & a
current. "Not another gusher!" Misty squealed in her mind. Ash somehow got a
hold of a jut in the stone (underwater) cliff. He felt a needle being stuck into his lower
leg. Ash looked down & saw Misty was holding onto him. He smiled & Misty noticed.
Ash looked up to see if he could fight that current & then realized Misty was helping
him! Ash kept going. Misty followed him & they managed to get to the surface.
"Well, this is great." Ash said sarcastically.
"Hey, what's that?" Misty asked. "I hope it's not
Jigglypuff!" Misty thought.
"Got me- I don't know. It looks like a white furball."
"Do you think it's Jigglypuff?" Misty asked nervously.
"No." Ash was puzzled. "Butterfree, I choose you!
<pops out> Butterfree, get this Poké Ball to open up at the top of the cliff."
"Ash, over here!" Misty called. "Don't let go of the
rocks!" she warned.
"It's okay. You found a ledge!"
"The tide comes up to there when it's high tide." Misty
pointed.
Ash heard the pop of a Poké Ball above them. "Bulbasaur! Over
here!" Ash cried.
"Bulba? <How did you get down there?>" it asked.
"Just pull us up there, Bulbasaur!"
The vines came down. Ash & Misty each grabbed 1. When they got up
out of that 30 foot drop, Ash called Bulbsaur back. "What can we do? Pidgeot's tired,
and we don't have a clue where we are!" Misty squealed.
"I think we should try to find someone who knows."
"That'll probably work."
Ash & Misty decided to keep walking along the shoreline because
Misty mentioned that all the towns on Seafoam are on the shoreline. After Misty had said
that, Ash replied with: "You're right. I think all the roads are on the shorelines,
too."
It wasn't long- they had only been walking an hour until Misty spotted
a sign. "I was right!" she exclaimed.
"Ash!"
Ash whirled around. He knew he wasn't just hearing things- that was his
name being called. "Ash! Your Primeape- I was training- it got loose- I'm
sorry."
"Where did it get loose?"
"Right here on Seafoam. Go- go now- find it!". He left.
"So where do we start?"
"How should I know, I'm not him, ya know." Misty scowled.
"Well..." Ash cringed. He jumped. "What was that?"
"I don't think we want to find out! Look!"
"It's Primeape!" Ash yelled.
"We have to battle!"
"Butterfree, I choose you!"
"Ash, what are you doing?"
"Butterfree knows 2 Psychic attacks. If I use them,"
"I get it! Start using them!" Butterfree didn't need Ash- at
Misty's words Butterfree attacked Primeape with a Psybeam. It missed, and Primeape nailed
Butterfree with a Jump Kick. "Ha! No such luck Butterfree has resistance to it!
Confusion, Butterfree!" The wave of polarized black spread from Butterfree's eyes,
hitting & severely weakening Primeape. "Poké Ball, go!" Ash cried. Easy
catch, the Poké Ball only shook once. Then it transported. "Butterfree,
return!" Ash quieted down & they kept moving along the road.
Chapter 22: Butch & Cassidy vs. Jessie, James & Meowth
Butch & Cassidy were walking back to Viridian. They had seen
Primeape battle Ash courtesy of their Drowzee. "It's humiliating." Butch sobbed.
"It's pathetic." Cassidy whined.
"We a r e pathetic." They then fell into a pitfall. Cassidy
growled.
"I can't believe they fell for it!" Meowth chimed.
"We caught something!" James cheered.
"But what?" Jessie asked.
"Your worst enemy." Cassidy cried.
"You're not out worst enemy! Those twerps, Ash & Misty, are
our worst enemy!"
"James, you mean enemi e s!" Meowth corrected.
"Well, then we're your second worst enemy!" Butch cut in, and
Cassidy joined him in here: "Butch & Cassidy!"
"So what are you doing here?" James asked angrily.
"Going to meet the Boss." Butch replied, turning up the
anger.
"What are you doing here?" Cassidy prodded.
"Trying to catch the twerps."
"Well, you ought to get to Seafoam. They're not on the
mainland." Cassidy boomed.
"Looks like it's time we blasted off." Jessie growled.
J,J,& M got into their balloon to go to Seafoam. Butch & Cassidy got to Viridian
City Gym.
Chapter 23: Dugging
"I don't believe this! Where are we!" Misty screamed.
"It looks like we're in the middle of nowhere." Ash said
calmly.
"Why don't we ride Pidgeot again?"
"You want to be sucked into another gusher?" Ash asked.
"That can't happen! He hasn't been out of its Poké Ball for 3
days now! And that's how long we've been out here!" Ash thought Misty was starting to
lose it.
Suddenly Ash felt a Poké Ball begin to shake on his belt. Pidgeot's.
He enlarged the ball, and Pidgeot appeared. "Pid. Geee. Otttt. <I'm ready,
Ash!>"
"Well, I hope so. Come on, Misty." Ash helped her on.
"All right! Getting out of here should be a breeze now!"
Misty brightened.
"Pidgeot, climb to where we can see the whole island." It
went into a steep climb. "Misty, just hang on to me!". She was screaming- and it
felt like she couldn't grab Ash. But she did, and they finally leveled out. Misty sighed
& leaned into Ash. He didn't notice or care. Ash had his map out, so he just looked
around. Ash then pointed & put the map away. They landed what seemed to Misty where
they were. "Ash, this isn't a town!"
"Around that bend is where a town is, I'm positive."
They started walking along a dirt path. Ash's foot got stuck in the
ground. "Hey, what's that?"
"What's what?" Misty asked as she caught up with him.
They shrieked.
Ash thought it was a pitfall. "Who's digging holes around
here?", but he said that in mid-air. "I hope this isn't that cave!" Misty
screamed. Now it hit them that they were really falling. "I hope we don't black out
when we reach the bottom, if we ever do!" Ash replied, realizing he was falling
faster & faster. Misty didn't hear him- she was falling way behind of Ash. Ash felt
himself hit rock. And he blacked out.
Chapter 24: Sandshrew Holes
Ash's watch read 8:30, if you could see it. It was freezing. He woke up
to a daze. Ash had a headache, but he didn't care about that. There was no light in this
'cave', but it wasn't really a cave- there was sand on the ground. The question 'Where's
Misty' wasn't on Ash's mind because he felt her body heat (from her head) on his pack. She
had landed on him! Ash eard Jigglypuff, but it wasn't loud enough to put him to sleep.
Instead, Misty woke up. "Ash? Am I lying on you?"
"If that's you, Misty, I'm glad."
"Look at me." Misty picked Ash up & they were face to
face. "I can't even see you!" Ash exclaimed, "I only know you're there
because you've got your hands on my shoulders!"
"Well, maybe you should send out your Charmander."
"You're right. Good point. Charmander! <pops out, and they get
to their feet> So now what what do we do?"
"We need your Pidgeot to carry Charmander up to the top of the
cave."
"sssshhhhhhhoooooooooooo"
"What was that?" Misty gasped.
"sssshhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeewwwwww!"
"It's a Sandshrew!" Ash pulled out his Pokédex.
"Sandshrew, the Mouse Pokémon of the Ground element. A small Pokémon that can have
a vicious temper. Its only type is Ground, but it still has a Poison Sting."
"Anything else we should worry about?"
"Like the name, it does have a Sand Attack like Pidgey's."
"Shhhhhrrrrrrrrooooooo." they growled. "Slash."
"It's another one!" Ash gasped. "Sandslash. The evolved form of Sandshrew.
Has the same attacks as Sandshrew, except much more powerful. One of its more powerful
attacks is Slash."
"Ash, I think we're way outnumbered here!" Misty squealed.
Ash didn't notice. He started a battle. "Squirtle, I choose you!
Water Gun!"
"I don't wanna do this, but Misty calls Starmie, Staryu, Golduck,
<takes breath> and Lapras! <Ash joins> All of you, Water Gun!" There were
lots of Sandshrew, but they did it.

Ash & Misty cheered on the victory. "We won!" Misty
exclaimed.
"You were great, Squirtle." Ash knelt down & smiled at
his Pokémon. "You should take a rest. Ash called it back, & Misty called hers
back. "Oh great, now the sand is drenched." Misty whined.
"That's easy to solve. Charmander, Ember!" Ash directed. Ash
& Misty scrunched up against each other (in a dry spot: where they were) lying down to
try to avoid the flame. "Hey Charmander, watch it!" Misty warned. It only
responded with a nervous look with a hand behing its head. It finally finished, and they
heard a strange song. Misty collapsed, Ash was in shock. "Misty!" he cried.
