Chapter 6: Ash's Prophecy
She opened her eyes & got up to her feet. "Ash, it's okay, I'm
fine." and then she walked off to get some clothes on. When she got out to call her
Pokémon back, she barely saw Ash looking down on the water, with a slightly concerned
face. "Something wrong, Ash?"
"Yeah. A while back, while you were changing, I thought I heard
something like this: 'The Rockets will get you, Ash Ketchum! Be forewarned! Come to me,
and I'll save you! But, if you don't hurry, you're dooooommmmmmmmmeeeeeddddddd!!! Bwa ha
ha!'"
"Aww, come on, Ash, you were only hearing things! What did the
voice sound like, if you don't mind my asking."
"It sounded hollow, and it echoed. It seems like I've heard it
before..."
"I don't know. Let's just ignore it. It's getting dark, we need
some sleep. See ya in the morning..." and Misty opened her tent, not to be seen until
the next day by Ash.
"Well, we sure got them thinking, didn't we, Cassidy?"
"Sure! And tomorrow, we finish them off!"
Ash woke up to a stormy day. It wasn't raining, but the winds were
howling, and there were some dark storm clouds. Misty was already up, getting into
something warm for the weather. Ash didn't bother to do this. When they were ready, Ash
& Misty got on Lapras, and got ready for the greatest adventure of their lives (just a
play on words, I don't really mean that...). The winds kept howling. Nothing was going Ash
& Misty's way. They had to yell to hear each other. "Ash! Don't you think we
should turn around!" Misty screamed.
"I don't think we can!" Whitecaps. So many whitecaps. And
this was all happening because of Butch & Cassidy's Drowzee. All Ash & Misty could
do was hold on to each other & the spikes on Lapras's shell. Misty was holding onto
the Lapras, and Ash was holding on to her by the leg! "Ash, put 1 arm on 1 leg, and
hold them both, it feels like they're gonna fall off!" Misty screamed in pain.
"Sorry, Misty!" Ash screamed, trying to be polite.
"It's okay! At least nothing's strained or pulled!" She
groaned. The wind was howling, and she knew she couldn't let go- if that happened, Ash was
done for!
Then they heard some evil laughter. "So we meet again."
"Misty, have you ever heard that voice?"
"Yeah, it sounds like Butch & Cassidy!"
"How can that be? They were sent to jail twice!"
"Boss bailed us out again." Butch bragged.
"Misty calls Golduck!" Golduck somehow knew what was going
on. He teleported them all somewhere... but Misty didn't know, and neither did Ash.
"Gol-" Misty didn't finish. She was about to say, "Golduck, teleport us to
Cerulean City!" She could only hope that Golduck had read her mind. Ash was going to
tell Misty to get to someone's hometown, and in that case they would have gone back to
Pallet Town, but, something went wrong. Instead of getting to Pallet Town, or even
Cerulean, Ash & Misty would wake up to see Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town.
Chapter 7: "The Tower of Terror" Revisited
Ash woke up. He was face down, and he didn't see any of Misty's Pokémon, either. Ash saw
Misty about 20 feet away from him, and still blacked out. His watch read 10:30. P.M. As if
to underline this, he heard a howling wolf. This woke Misty up. "Where am I? This
isn't Pallet of Cerulean.."
"It's Pokémon Tower." Ash was on his feet.
Misty got up. "Remember last time we were here?"
"Yeah, it was fun!"
"Well, fun for you, but scary for me. Someone picked me up when
Brock & I were waiting for you. Was that you- I mean, it sounded like your
voice."
"It was me. Now come on. Butch & Cassidy do have Drowzee, and
we could use a ghost Pokémon."
Ash walked into the first room of the decrepit place, with dust
everywhere, and you were constantly on your toes, thinking the floor would collapse under
you. Misty slowly followed.
"There they are. We'll get them this time, those brats!"
Jessie said, just having that sense in her bones that they'd finally get their hands on
that Pikachu.
"This place brings back memories, doesn't it, Jessie?" James
sobbed, hating this place.
"It does. I remember the time you fell through the floor. But no
time for sob stories, let's get that Pikachu!"
"We can make use of that hole in the floor we created last time.
This is so simple."
"Too simple." Meowth chimed, not liking this plan.
"All we have to do is drop this chandelier when they get in that
spot right there. It's bound to work!" Jessie cheered.
Back down in the first room, Ash & Misty are trying to figure out where they are in
this scary place. "Ash, do you have any idea where the walls are?" Misty
couldn't see a thing.
"I don't know. Hey, there you are!" Misty had bumped into him while they were
groping around for some kind of indication of where they were.
"Oh, Ash, it's so nice to know you're okay!"
"We should start crawling around so that we don't bump into anything, or fall into a
hole in the ground."
"You're right."
"Let's go that way."
"Which way? I can't even see you!" Misty exclaimed.
Ash guided her close to himself. "That way."
"Okay, now I see you."
They kept crawling for a while, not getting anything out of it but
tired. Suddenly, Ash saw a lighted room. "Misty, what do you think that is?" Ash
asked in a harsh tone.
"It's just that big room we got in a tornado in last time. Don't
think much of it."
Chapter 8: The Old Haunter
Ash & Misty slowly crawled into the room. "It's another
poster!" Ash exclaimed.
"Yeah, but it doesn't say 'pull this'. It says, 'Walk into this
room to get a special prize.' I wonder what the prize is?"
"Who cares? Let's get going."
"HAUNTER!"
Misty screamed. "Haunter, what are you doing here? <explains to
Ash> Sabrina fell into her psychic training again?"
"Why?" Misty asked, "How?"
"It doesn't know. But it wants us to go through that door."
Ash noticed, "Maybe it leads to the prize for the contest."
Misty reluctantly agreed. "Okay, I guess."
"Ash, it's getting dark back here!"
"Oh, Misty, calm down. It's only the dark. <puts his hands on her shoulders>
It's okay, Misty. I'm scared too. Come on."
"That's so heartwarming I could puke." Jessie commented, looking down on Ash
& Misty from above.
"Why does that matter? We've got them right where we want them. That Haunter is
leading them right toward our trap. That prize: $1,500, they'll never win it!" James
exclaimed.
"There they are! <Meowth scratches rope loose> They'll get a boom out of
this!"
"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Ash & Misty screamed. There
was nowhere to run. They blacked out. "<evil laughter> We got them now! Pikachu
is ours!" Team Rocket cheered in glory.
Chapter 9: Flight
Upon hearing this, Huanter immediately attacked them with an easy
Hypnosis, blacking them all out, except for Meowth, who was also injured by Hypnosis.
Haunter floated back down to see whether Ash & Misty were okay. It
should have been obvious that they weren't- but Haunter had other plans. He picked their
spirits up from their bodies. They just floated up there, as if they were still blacked
out. Another Hypnosis woke them up. "Where am I?" Misty questioned. She
screamed. "I've been totally separated from my body!"
"Misty, it's okay. It's actually very fun being a ghost.".
Ash tried to comfort her.
It didn't help Misty. She couldn't stand seeing her o w n body laying there, not moving.
"I can't take it anymore!", and she floated down toward her own body, and
stopped suddenly. "What's going on? I want to be m e again!"
"Only Haunter decides if you can be yourself again. Now come on, Misty. You'll like
it- believe me, p l e a s e , Misty." She had already noticed both of their voices
had a strange echo to it.
"Well, I hope you're right. Lead me."
"It's Haunter who leads us! Let's go!"
"Haunter, Haunter <follow me>"
"Come on, Misty." Ash took her arm & they smiled at each
other. Haunter led them throughout the 7 or 8 floors of Pokémon Tower. Misty was
beginning to like it this way, but something felt wrong. She felt like something was
missing: the real Misty, and she thought Ash was missing the real Ash. Ash knew it too,
but dismissed it as if it were nothing. It was their Pokémon.
They finally flew through the roof. Misty gasped in amazement.
"Wow. I don't believe it. Haunter, could you actually get into space?" She
started to figure out which way was north. "You can't? <sigh>"
"It's okay, Misty. It's like riding Pidgeot, except you're the
Pokémon, and don't have to carry anything."
Misty started to glide around everywhere. She liked it, and even
whizzed behind Ash's back once or twice. "Hey, come back here!" Ash exclaimed.
Ash jumped in her way. "Whaaaaa!" Misty screamed, and passed through Ash like he
wasn't there. "Did Haunter tell you that one?"
"How'd you guess? Misty, let's have some fun! <holds her by the
hand>"
"All right!" Misty was finally feeling better. The view was
tremendous. Misty saw a small lake, and wondered of they might possibly dive in. She asked
Ash. "Yeah. Haunter told me that, but he never found a lake." Misty was first
in, and there was no splash. Then he heard Misty's voice, "Come on, Ash! Can you hear
me?"
"Yeah, I hear you. Wow. I've never been in a lake like this
before. It's so murky, I don't even know if you're here."
"Ash, I'm right behind you. <turns around> Don't bother
going in that part of the pond- it's like you're in a r e a l pool. In other words, you do
need to hold your breath. Hmm? Something wrong, you look skeptical, Ash."
"I still can't see you, Misty. Don't ask me why, though."
"The moonlight is shining on you, but not me. <moves to his
left> Now can you see me?"
"Yeah. Haunter's probably looking for us, we should go find
him." He was blushing. So was Misty.
"You're right. See you topside." She glided through the water
effortlessly. She still couldn't figure out why she could still breathe and even talk
underwater. "Oh well, the world will never know everything." she thought to
herself, having nothing else to do but wait for Ash to catch up with her. "Haunter!
Can you take me back now? Okay, we'll wait."
"Sorry, Misty, I know I'm late."
"It's okay. Haunter, can we go now? Come on, Ash." They flew
back into the tower where Ash & Misty saw their lifeless bodies.
Chapter 10: The Secret of Love
Gengar slowly appeared from the basement through the floor, where he
could see them all. "Gen gar. Gen gen gar. Gengar, gengar."
"You're saying I only love Misty because, <Gengar explains a
little more> because she was the closest female to me when I woke up from being blacked
out, and then being a ghost for a while?"
Gengar nodded yes.
"But I was starting to love Ash by the time we made it to Porta
Vista. <more explaining> So you're saying that if there's already love between us,
it only helps to make it faster?" Misty wasn't quite getting the point of this
conversation.
"Okay." Ash noticed, beginning to get a little curious about
this wild story Gengar was telling them. "Now it says we should make it so that
something is touching."
"That's easy. Now what does it say to do?"
"It says to listen. Gengar says that I'll remember a romantic
dream as if it happened. So will you, Misty."
"Who would be the person you love?"
"Shouldn't that be obvious? In my case, it's you, and in your case, it's me. Ready to
dream?"
"I guess."
"Good. Drift back into your body. All you have to do is touch it." Ash touched
his body and drifted in before Misty's eyes. She knew she had to do it. She drifted in.
An hour of dreaming goes by. Haunter looks on in worry, and Gengar
left. Ash wakes up. His head hurt. Ash heard Haunter when he turned to wake Misty up.
"You're saying I shouldn't wake her up? Is that it? What about
this contest?"
Haunter produced a check made out for $1,500. "For me? How'd I
win? For showing up?"
"Win what, Ash?"
"Just look!"
"It's got your name on it, Ash."
Ash & Misty camped out & headed for Saffron. Haunter decided to
go with them, and Ash transported Butterfree to Oak's Lab so he had room. "Ash, what
are you gonna do with all that money?"
"Pay you back for for your bike."
