Sun beams shone through the window and Tom finally woke up. He was impatient, because today was the day, when he was going to start his Pokémon quest. He quickly got changed and went down stairs. His mother, Rebecca was preparing breakfast, so Tom went to the bathroom and washed his teeth. After that he greeted his mom.
"Hi mom"
"Hi Tom, the breakfast is on the table, come here after you finish it, I have a present for you."
"Oh cool", said Tom and quickly ate the food and washed the dishes. He ran into the living-room.
"Tom, I know that today you want to start your quest to be a Pokémon Master, so I have decided to give you this", she said and gave him a Pokéball.
"Thanks mom"
"Pokéball go", he said and before him materialised a Growlithe.
"A Growlithe, wow mom, you're the greatest"
"Oh I almost forgot Proffesor Oak said that you should stop by him"
"OK, I'm on my way", said Tom taking his backpack.
"Tom, I hope you'll phone me once a time."
"Don't worry I will. Bye mom"
"Bye Tom and good luck."

"Now to you, he said looking at the Growlithe. If you promise me not to run away, you can be out of your ball"
"Grow" said the Growlithe happily.
"Allright, let's go visit the Professor"

When Tom got to Professor Oak, he was excited.
"What does Professor Oak want from me ..." he thought as he walked through the door.
"Ah hello Tom, I've been waiting for you. As I can see, you already have a Pokémon, and it seems the Growlithe likes you, so I will skip the first part. He handed Tom a small red device.
"This is the Pokédex. It is a hi-tech encyclopedia. When you see a Pokémon you don't know, the Pokédex will give you available data about it. Now go and study the world of Pokémon"
"Thanks Professor", said Tom and went for the door.
"Wait Tom, here this will help you",said Oak handing him a Town Map and 10 Pokéballs.
"Now go"

When Tom was outside he took a look at the map.
"Hmmm, where should we go" he thought. "I know, lets go to Virdian City"
"Grow lithe"
"OK then lets go"

On the way to Virdian, Tom was in a forrest when he saw a silhoutte. As he was getting closer he recognized a person wearing a blue shirt on which was a black vest and blue trousers.
"Hiya, I'm Ben. Wanna battle ?"
"Sure"
"1 on 1 OK ?"
"Yep"
"Go Rattata"
Tom pointed the pokedex at the Rattata, it said:
"Rattata, a rat pokémon. Will chew on anything with its fangs.If you see one, it is certain that 40
more live in the area."

"Ratta tara"
"Growlithe I choose you"
"Grrrrrow"
"Rattata, Tail Whip"
"Growlithe, watch out for that"
It barely missed him.
"Now it's my turn, Growlithe Bite."
Rattata got bitten, but it didn't give up.
"Rattata Tackle"
Growlithe got hit in the side, and attacked back.
"Growlithe, Bite it again"
Rattata almost took another bite.
"Rattata return. Allright you win. Here's your money. Hey wouldn't you like to camp with me for the night?"
"It's almost dark, I would have had to build a tent sooner or later, so I guess it's OK with me."
They built their tents opposite each other and got in them quickly.
"By the way what's your name ?"
